Our Mission: BRIEF provides access, training, and experience to kids from low
income families that they need to thrive in today’s technology driven world.
33% of children under 18 in our area live in a home suffering from poverty and hardship. Children living in poverty experience the daily impacts that come quickly to mind — hunger, illness, insecurity, instability — but they also are more likely to experience low academic achievement, obesity, behavioral problems, and social and emotional development difficulties. All of these contribute to children growing up without exposure to education and resources that can help them succeed at school and in life.
These are the children we serve. They come to us hungry, tired, and at times unmotivated. They need more than hands-on computer learning and technology classes. We provide them with a safe environment where their needs are met – a refuge from the problems they face at home. It may be food or a hug with some encouragement. Then they are excited and ready to learn.
You can make a difference in the life of these kids. You can give them the ability and opportunity to envision a better future for themselves. By making a donation or becoming a volunteer — you become an ambassador of hope!
